Cumber Greaux takes the win at the East End loop and secures a chance to compete in the winners time Trials later this season.

It was important for me to capture a win here today said Greaux. The experience gained off island and some new hardware gave me great confidence, this win is just an indication of that. Greaux, Mark Defour, Narian Gentius and Juancito Gario, travelled to Nevis one week ago to participate in a two day three race event that gave the team a second place overall finish.

With near perfect conditions for a time trial, twenty enthusiastic cyclist took part in the south shore time trial #2. The 9 mile course with its challenges being over a few rolling hills and one or two not so rolling, started at the entrance to Ha Penny beach and came to an end at the DIVI hotel and casino. In the Elite group specialist Gario took 1st place 24:16, with Glenn Massiah + 1:04 for second place.
Congratulations to Judy Gario, she too took first place like her better half in her first ever time trial and official race. Judy won in the women's category with a time of 37:57. See full results.

It was hot and windy, perfect conditions for the Gladfelter Classic road race. Thirty-five brave warriors took on the elements and the undulating terrain for a wonderful day of racing.
In the Sport Category it was a day for all business and no play for the trio of young Apolinar Acevedo (Team Twin City), Joseph Thomas (Team Joint Forces) & Tyler Jowaisis (Cruzan Confusion). Not only did they managed to drop their competition and leave them wanting, they also caught, passed and gained time on the Expert category. Acevedo and Jowaisis took off on a break in the second lap that broke up the trio between them and Thomas. It was a sprint for the finish line with Acevedo edging out Jowaisis and Thomas rounding out the third spot in their 23 mile race.
The Expert Category saw another trio working together to keep the chase group at bay. Donald Christian (Team High Definition), Brad Chaffee (Team Miko2Max) & Troy Holloway (Independent) maintained a fair gap between them and the rest of the pack from the start of the 34.5 mile race. The trio worked together until the finish was in sight, then with a massive sprint to the finish line, Christian snatched the win away from Chaffee. Holloway, who had a few troubles of his own, rounded out the third spot.

In the Elite Category, they started with a blistering pace, reminiscent of the name sake of the race, and stayed grupo compacto for two laps. On the third lap the true contenders made their break. By the time it was realised, it was too late. Six of the thirteen Elite combatants were unaccounted for, this being due to flat tires or simply tapping out due to the high pace in the 46 mile race. Apolinar Acevedo (Team Twin City) jettisoned his compatriots Mark Defour (Team High Definition), Morgan Locke (Cruzan Confusion), and Jonathan Cruz (Team Twin City) with a well-timed attack on the run up to the final set of climbs. Acevedo rode in alone across the line, followed by Mark Defour +0.36 in second and Jonathan Cruz +0.38 in third.
The Masters Category was won by Peter Duthie (Team Miko2Max) and the Women’s Category was won by Melissa Banuelos (STX-340).

A new road race champion has been declared...Glenn Massiah!!

Keeping rather consistent lap times, Glenn rode a smart race and finished almost four minutes ahead of second place finisher Apolinar Acevedo. Cumber Greaux was the third finisher in the 60-mile race in 2:50:55. The airport loop course, which was used in yesterday's time trial race as well, is a familiar one to most, but can be quite challenging depending on the wind and sun factors. Although a bit hot, today's weather was near perfect. Twenty-five cyclists took on the longer-than-usual race distance but only nine riders completed the full ten laps. Expert rider Ferdi Abraham hung on for most of the race, as well as his cousin and Sport rider Yves Abraham, who completed eight of the ten laps. Also to be commended is young Apol Acevedo, who finished the entire race, in 2:58:03. Well done!!
